Hodge Hall: Week 43 -- The view from my desk

Construction materials for inside and outside the Hodge Hall expansion are stacked around the site.

The news this week is not so much what has happened at the Hodge Hall Undergraduate Center construction site, but what will be happening next week.

Concrete masonry work has begun on the east side of the expansion.

The crew will take advantage of the absence of students during Spring Break to hook up a new electrical transformer. That means all of the power will be shut down in the undergraduate building, which will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

SPEA will also be closed on Monday.

While Kelley's facility services and tech staffs have been preparing for the mass outage this week, folks in the Office of the Dean have been finding space in the Godfrey Center for displaced faculty and staff who plan to work during the week.

But there was construction going on, as well.

On the east side of the Hodge Hall expansion, workers began the concrete masonry work.

Inside the footprint, more wall frames have gone up, and workers have installed a vapor barrier over part of the ground floor to get it ready for another cement pour.
